Consul General Priyanga Wickramasinghe was conferred the Women Icon Award 2026 for "Distinguished Excellence in Advancing Regional Economic Integration, Bilateral Trade & Diplomatic Cooperation" at the 4th Annual Women’s Summit & Awards held at World Trade Center Mumbai on 27 October 2026.
The event, themed "Celebrating Remarkable Women Who Create, Lead & Inspire," was jointly organized by MVIRDC World Trade Center Mumbai and Women Icons of India. The awards ceremony recognized and celebrated over 40 distinguished women leaders across broad spectrums of public life, including diplomacy, international relations, trade, public administration, entrepreneurship, and social development.
The award recognizes the Consul General’s distinguished contributions to strengthening bilateral relations, promoting regional trade partnerships, and advancing economic diplomacy and international cooperation.
Accepting the honour alongside fellow members of the Mumbai diplomatic corps, Consul General Wickramasinghe credited the Consulate General’s success to collective effort. She highlighted that while the leadership team is all-women—supported by their male colleagues—every achievement reflects seamless teamwork and shared dedication.
This annual initiative underscores the shared vision of MVIRDC World Trade Center Mumbai and Women Icons of India: honouring outstanding achievements, elevating women's voices, and empowering emerging leaders to shape a more inclusive and prosperous society.
