International Tea Day is not merely about celebrating a drink; it is about honouring the millions of hands—from the dedicated estate workers to the master blenders—who contribute to this global industry.
For Sri Lanka, tea—or Ceylon Tea—is a symbol of our heritage, our resilience, and our pride. Nurtured by our unique topography, misty mountains, and distinct microclimates, Ceylon Tea has earned its reputation as the cleanest and finest tea in the world. From the robust flavours of Ruhuna to the delicate notes of Nuwara Eliya, it carries the very soul of our island.
And where better to celebrate this than in India, a land with deep tea traditions of its own? While India has its legendary and beloved Chai culture, Sri Lanka offers its artisanal, orthodox black and green teas. Together, our two nations represent a massive, foundational pillar of the global tea heritage.
Beyond the cup, today represents a significant opportunity. Mumbai is the financial heartbeat of India. Through platforms like this, we aim to deepen our trade ties, explore new market opportunities, and foster strong B2B collaborations.
