Priyanga Wickramasinghe assumed duties as the Consul General of Sri Lanka in Mumbai on 28 July 2025.  

A career foreign service officer, Ms. Wickramasinghe joined the Sri Lanka Foreign Service in 2003. Immediately prior to taking up this post, she served as Sri Lanka’s Deputy High Commissioner in New Delhi. 

In the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sri Lanka, she has served in various capacities in the Europe Division, Americas Division, United Nations & Multilateral Affairs Division, Economic Affairs Division, International Security Cooperation Division, Public Diplomacy Division, and as Deputy Chief of Protocol.  

Her various diplomatic assignments abroad include the Sri Lanka Embassy and Sri Lanka Permanent Delegation to UNESCO in France from June 2005-December 2009, Sri Lanka’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Geneva where she worked on human rights matters from August 2012-October 2014, and the Sri Lanka Embassy in the United States where she was in charge of political affairs from October 2014-June 2019, and served as Chargé d'affaires a.i. from October 2017 to October 2018.  

Before embarking on her diplomatic career Ms. Wickramasinghe was an academic and linguist. She served as a Lecturer in German at the University of Kelaniya (2000–2002) and as a teacher at the Goethe Institut in Colombo (1996–2005). 

Ms. Wickramasinghe holds a Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) from Georgetown University in Washington D.C. and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Kelaniya, where she specialized in English Literature, German, and French.   

Ms. Wickramasinghe speaks Sinhalese, English, German, and French and has a basic knowledge of Italian.
